Great Plains Sitatunga Private Island Camp and Suite, Botswana is opening in July 2023.
Set on the edge of a stunning lagoon in Botswana’s Okavango Delta.
Many of our guests now ask for ‘slow safaris’ and want to get out on the water of this famous inland delta. So, after nearly two years of planning, designing and building, we will open in mid-July this year.
The main living space in each suite is of a much larger (fish trap) basket design, constructed up in the thick ebony canopy, as that reference. The lighter woods and misty green and blue décor picks up the reeds and water elements as interiors and the discovered antique carpets, not red as we often like, but with light blues to match.
But of course, as the name suggests, this is the place of sitatungas, where you can sit in your tree house and watch these strange creatures down below as they move around on elongated hooves and with shaggy coats – ignoring everyone.
Sitatunga Private Island Camp and the 2-bedroomed Sitatunga Private Island Suite share a design steeped in storytelling and purposeful design, with attention to detail and what we pride ourselves in – that personal touch.
